Introduction

1.1 Introduction

Welcome to the CivilFEM Theory Manual. This manual presents the theoretical descriptions of every calculation procedure used by the program and describes the relationship between the input data and the results given by CivilFEM. This manual is essential for understanding how the program calculates results as well as how to interpret the results correctly.

1.1.1 Purpose of the Theory Manual

The CivilFEM Theory Manual provides the theoretical basis of the algorithms included in the program. With knowledge of the underlying theory, the user can perform analyses efficiently and confidently by using the capabilities to their full potential while being aware of the limitations.

Reading the whole manual will not be necessary; it is recommended to read only the paragraphs containing the specific algorithms being utilized.

The CivilFEM Theory Manual employs the same notation criteria used in the ANSYS Theory Manual.
