Optimizes cable forces in Cable-Stayed bridges

SOLUTION: BRIDGE AND CIVIL NON LINEARITIES

---

Not used argument.

DEADLOAD

Value of additional dead loads on the bridge deck (uniformly distributed load).

Notes

-  This command will only work if LINK11 elements are used for the cables and the bridge model is generated with the Cable Stayed Bridge Wizard.

-  It is assumed that the cables are connected to the top of the deck.

-  In this version there is only one optimization criterion available: zero deflection of the bridge deck.

-  The command follows the following steps:

o  Application of the additional dead loads on the bridge deck and the force of gravity (vertical direction: global Z) on the whole structure.

o  Calculation of the vertical deflection (UZ) of the deck.

o  Execution of a series of analyses with unit cable forces in each cable after removing the gravity effect and any surface loads from the model.

o  In /POST1, it assembles a linear system of equations to calculate the optimized cable forces.

o  In /SOLU, it applies the optimized cable forces, gravity and the additional dead loads on the deck.  It then runs an analysis (after this step there will be one set of results available in the database: Load Step 1).

-  Since LINK11 elements allow compression in the elements, depending on the geometry of the model, the optimization might result in compression in some of the cables (no warning is issued).
