Cracking checking for prestressed concrete on a box cross section according to Eurocode 2 (1991).

The model is a prestressed beam 5 m length.
The beam is made of HA-35 concrete.
The section is a box, with B500S steel reinforcement. It has the following dimensions:

  • h = 0.8 m
  • b = 1.2 m
  • twy = 0.25 m
  • twz = 0.3 m
Load states:
  • LS 1: Compression force N= -1000000 kN.
  • LS 2: Tensile force N= 100000 kN.
  • LS 3: Tensile force (N= 1000 kN) + Mz Bending moment (Mz = 70000 m*kN) + Mz Bending moment (My = 50000 m*kN).
The aim of the example is to verify the cracking checking for prestressed concrete according to Eurocode 2.
