CFVR7704 - AISC-ASD13: Shear Checking of a W-shape Section

Shear checking according to AISC-ASD13 W-shape cross section.

A cantilever steel beam is subjected to end shears of 48 kips from dead load and 145 kips from live load.
The beam has a length of 100 in.
Section material properties: ASTM A992, Fy = 50 ksi , Fu = 65 ksi
Geometric properties: W24x62, d = 23.7 in., tw = 0.430 in. The aim of the example is to obtain the shear criterion according to AISC-ASD13.
Reference: AISC, Design Examples, Version 13.0 Example G.1a, W-Shape in Strong-Axis Shear

Element types used in the model: BEAM3

Needed CivilFEM Modules:
Geotechnical Module
Bridges and Civil Non Linearities Module
Advanced Prestressed Concrete Module

The example can be launched on an educational license.
